Improvement of the Education in the Municipalities

Donor: Institute for Sustainable Communities – ISC in the framework of the United States Agency for International Development – USAID’s Civil Society Strengthening Project
Objectives: Support civil society through establishment of effective local partnership that facilitates the education decentralization processes in North Macedonia; establish partnership mechanisms among municipality, schools and non-governmental organizations in order to improve the education in North Macedonia; encourage activities for improvement of the education at municipal level.
Results:
• Strengthened communication and cooperation among municipality, schools and NGOs to address educational issues in the community;
• Built capacities of representatives from schools, NGO’s and municipal officials to support decentralization processes in education;
• Municipal Educational Body (MEB) established in 10 selected project municipalities, consisted of 5 members – representatives from primary schools and local NGO and municipal officials;
• Small grants provided to each municipalities in order to allocate to the school priorities selected by MEB;
• Municipal educational policies adopted a model for supporting decentralization in the education, in order to support sustainability of the established local partnership.
